Benjamin Kirchweger aims to find natural products with the ability to alleviate metabolic diseases. The main activities to reach this goal involve, on the one hand, fat accumulation studies in the model organism Caenorhabditits elegans and, on the other hand, rational target based approaches by integration of in silico methods. He is particularly interested in the discovery of natural product activators of the 5'AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK).
