Thesis title: Abnormal metalhomeostasis as drug target to combat neurodegenerative disorders by natural products.

The aim of the thesis is to search for natural products which are active against alzheimer´s and parkinson´s disease by prolongation of metallothionein induction using the model organsim C. elegans. After evaluation of an novel drug target, medium throughput assays have to be established to screen extracts of the traditional iranian medicine and the ayurvedic medicine.
