Thesis title: "Age-related loss of muscle mass and function in Kosovan older men and women and its association with the ACTN3 genotype"

Thesis outline: Age-related loss of muscle mass and function, and the prevalence of sarcopenia together with its related components (conceptual stages) based on different internationally recommended and the population specific diagnostic criteria (derived from a young healthy local group) in men and women from a developing lower middle-income country like Kosovo.
The investigation of genetic influence (notably ACTN3 gene) on muscle phenotypes and its relation with their age-related physiological and functional decline.
