Thesis title: "Combined phenotypic and metabolome profiling for accelerated compound characterization"
Thesis outline: Antimicrobial resistance poses a global health threat. New anti-infectives are needed, but pharmaceutical development remains slow and costly. This project aims to characterize novel anti-infectives by combining metabolomics with phenotypic readouts. Compound-induced metabolic changes in pathogens and human cells can provide information on the mode of action of candidate compounds. By integrating metabolic profiles with phenotypic data such as proliferation, cytotoxicity, and cytokine responses, we can assess the antimicrobial activity and potential effects on host cells.
