Report

From 30 June to 11 July, I had the opportunity to complete a professional internship (Hospitation) in the Department of Sports Medicine at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany. Remarkably, I arrived on time thanks to the Deutsche Bahn - without any delays.

During my stay, I was accommodated at the Sportcampus Saar, which offered great facilities and a productive atmosphere. Department of Sport and Exercise Science, University of Vienna could certainly learn a thing or two from the well-organised and modern setup I experienced there.

Over the course of two weeks, I worked intensively, acquired new skills, and explored various approaches to team leadership and organization. I contributed to studies on stress and self-perception. In terms of team leadership, I was able to observe and help shape different ways of structuring workflows and alternative philosophies of organizing team processes. This gave me insight into how different leadership styles can influence team dynamics and overall efficiency. It was a rewarding experience, both professionally and personally. I had the chance to collaborate with many talented and motivated colleagues and in the evenings, we even managed to fit in a few friendly games of beach volleyball a great way to unwind and connect.

At the weekend, I took the opportunity to explore the city of Saarbrücken. I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and friendliness of the locals in the Saarland region. The city had a welcoming vibe, and the experience deepened my appreciation for German culture.

Overall, this internship was a great success. I am sincerely grateful to VDS-PhaNuSpo for their financial support and giving me the chance to broaden my academic and professional horizons abroad. This experience will undoubtedly have a positive impact on both my personal development and my dissertation.
