Report

At the beginning of June, I had the opportunity to attend the 58th Annual Scientific Meeting of the European Society for Clinical Investigation (ESCI) in Barcelona, Spain. There, I was given the chance to present our latest research on how sugar affects immune function in humans. The conference offered a variety of interesting sessions especially in the field of Microbiome research and MASLD but also valuable insights into new technique approaches and methods. Throughout the conference I was able to meet some experts in the field of nutritional science, as well as medicine, and had the opportunity to discuss the different scientific approaches of each field. In addition, the social events during the conference, such as the Social Networking Dinner, provided an informal opportunity to make new professional contacts.

I am grateful to my supervisor Prof. Ina Bergheim and the VDS PhaNuSpo for the Travel Grant that made this experience possible.
