Completion & Job Application Training Workshop

Target group

  • For VDS-PhaNuSpo doctoral candidates in their final year.
  • First come, first served, but PhDs in their final stage will be prioritised.

Programme & Date

The date for the summer semester of 2026 will be set and announced as soon as possible.

The programme for last semester was as follows: Thursday, 26 June 2025

  • 9:00–10:00, "PhD completion checklist" by Ernst Castellitz (SSC, tbc) and Isolde
    Pre-session: short and concise guidance on study completion (e.g., cumulative thesis, assignment of reviewers, defence).
  • 10:00–17:00 (with breaks) "Job Application Training" by Svitlana Kalitsun (see attached Flyer)
    Methods: Interactive classroom sessions with lectures, discussions, case studies, role plays, and group work. Participants will practice skills through real-life negotiation scenarios, with preparation, discussion, feedback, and debriefing.
    • Making Impactful First Impressions. Refining your presence for a memorable introduction.
    • Clarifying your interests and aspirations: What do YOU really want?
    • Role Plays - Job Interviews: Delivering compelling messages, handling questions, process and salary negotiations.
    • Follow-up: Handling pushback and planning next step.
