Report

From 13 to 17 July 2024 we, Christine Coffey, Elisabeth Eichenauer, Martina Redl and Sigrid Adelsberger, attended the International Congress on Natural Products Research 2024 in Krakow, Poland. This congress covered a wide range of topics, such as marine organisms, fungi, microbes and plants as chemical factories, natural products in the era of emerging infectious diseases, or natural products research and the challenges of climate change – ecological and environmental solutions and was organised by seven different international Natural Products Research Societies (four European, one American, one Korean and one Japanese).

Martina presented her latest results in the Early Career Researchers Workshop, Christine, Sigrid and Elisabeth presented their doctoral theses as posters at the main conference. For all of us it was a great opportunity to network with PIs and other doctoral students in this field from all around the globe and to discuss our results with other researchers. Three poster sessions and many different talks and lectures gave us an insight into the current hot topics and research areas of different universities. We were also able to visit the beautiful city of Krakow, and learned a lot about its history and the great Polish cuisine!

We are grateful to our supervisors Verena Dirsch, Judith Rollinger, Sabine Glasl-Tazreiter and Ulrike Grienke, for their support in preparing our posters and talks. Furthermore, we would like to thank the PhaNuSpo doctoral school for the travel grants, which made it possible for us to attend this great congress!
