Mission Statement

This doctoral programme intends to provide an internationally competitive scientific training of doctoral students in innovative pharmaceutical, nutritional and sport research.

The school wants to attract motivated students and to guide them towards scientific excellence and independence in a truly unique and dynamic multi-as well as interdisciplinary environment to finally become well-educated, open-minded and responsible graduates. The cohorts trained and supported by the VDS PhaNuSpo are part of the vibrant research environment at the Faculty of Life Sciences and the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports of the University of Vienna.

This workshop brings together early-stage doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers to discuss the latest developments in epigenetics, focusing on core mechanisms in development, differentiation, ageing and disease across various model systems.

Read more about Namarig's experiences at the Skin & Formulation, 6th Symposium "Current challenges in skin formulation" in Nantes, France. The symposium was organised by the International Society of Drug Delivery and Pharmaceutical Technology (APGI).

Award/ Grant Winners
 

Willi Koller has been honored with this year's "Best Paper Award". As a result of this recognition, he is now invited to submit the complete paper related to his presentation for publication in the Journal of Gait & Posture. Prof. Hans Kainz achieved the 2nd place for the Dr. Tom Shannon Promising Scientist Award.

Research
 

New original research from our Division of Pharmacology and Toxicology (working group Schmidt) has been released. The paper by Gomez-Varela et. al.: "Increasing taxonomic and functional characterization of host-microbiome interactions by DIA-PASEF metaproteomics" was published last week in Frontiers in Microbiology.

Congratulations to Sabrina Grundtner (PhD student, laboratory of Manuela Schmidt) for being awarded the "Best Oral Poster Communication"-Prize at the 13th Congress of the European Pain Federation EFIC 2023 in Budapest, Hungary.
