Annual PhaNuSpo Retreat 2024
For the safety of you all, we have had to cancel our retreat due to the weather situation and the resulting road closures due to floods.
We know you have been looking forward to this event.
We are working on a possible alternative date.
The following programme items will be replaced as follows in Vienna.
Poster Sessions
We are pleased to announce that the authors of the retreat poster sessions will be presenting their posters at the UZA2 soon.
- When: 15 November 2024, Poster Sessions: 09:30-12:00 followed by Poster Award Ceremony.
- Venue: 1090 ViennaUZA2 (exact location within the UZA as soon as possible).
- List of poster presentations will be on the website shortly.
- Refreshments and snacks during the event.
- Register here by end of October 2024, just to know for how many people we need to order refreshments, etc.
Icebreaker and PPT Science Karaoke
Were you interested in the "Icebreaker" and "PPT Science Karaoke Challenge" items on the retreat programme? Yes! Then come and join us at our 2024 Christmas Party.
- When: 04 December 2024, starting at 5pm.
- Venue: Aula at the Campus of the University of Vienna (Altes AKH), courtyard 1 (Hof 1), 1090 Vienna. Click here for a location map.
- Nice food and drinks.
- Register here by the end of October at the latest.
- We look forward to seeing you at both events.

Information
- The programme includes the guidelines for the poster session, both for the authors and the jury.
- For poster authors: Please use this template and upload your poster as a PDF file to the u:cloud by noon on 4 September the very latest. The posters will be printed by the doc school and will be transported to the retreat site.
(NB: You will not see your own or any other uploaded files. After uploading, you will only see a small notice in dark grey letters below the upload button: "Uploaded files: your-file-name.pdf").
- Note for University of Vienna staff (PhD students & PIs): The retreat days will not be deducted from your annual leave.

The retreat is for doctoral students and supervisors who are members of the VDS PhaNuSpo. Invited guests are also welcome.
Basics
- Date: Monday 16 Sep 2024 (departure 8:30am) to Tuesday 17 Sep 2024 (departure around 3:30pm), organised bus transfers to and from 1090 Vienna (UZAII).
- Where: Naturhotel Steinschaler Dörfl in Frankenfels.
- Who: All interested PhaNuSpo PhD and PI members (= signed Code of Good Practice for Doctoral Schools), the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and invited experts.
- Childcare during the retreat.
- Programme: An active contribution is expected as well as active participation throughout the retreat.
- ECTS credits: Active participation 1 ECTS, additional 2 ECTS for poster presentation/evaluation.
- Prizes for best poster presentations.
- Costs: Free for PhaNuSpo members, SAB and invited guests. Costs for transfers, accommodation, meals, coffee breaks and group activities are covered by PhaNuSpo.
