Call: Research stays in France or Taiwan

The Institut français d'Autriche, in collaboration with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, offers early-stage researcher stays in France of up to 6 months, and the OeAD offers stays in Taiwan of up to one month. The application deadline for France is 31 March 2024 and for Taiwan 1 April 2024.


Excellence scholarships for short research stays (1 to 6 months) and for doctoral studies in France

These scholarships are for doctoral students, postdoctoral and ambitious young researchers who have completed their dissertation within the last 5 years and are employed at an Austrian and/or French research institution. This mobility aims to allow young researchers to deepen their research activities in France and to establish new collaborations. Applications are not open to candidates of French citizenship.

  • Grant: 1.690 euros/month or 1.704 euros/month
  • Duration: From 1 month to 6 months, between July and December of the same calendar year.

Scholarships for scientific stays at Taiwanese universities (doctoral students, lecturers, researchers)

Postgraduates, doctoral students, lecturers and researchers (with EU citizenship) at Austrian public universities, private universities and universities of applied sciences. Applicants must have successfully completed at least one semester of a doctoral programme at the closing date for applications or be teaching staff. Preference will be given to applications that serve to prepare joint projects between Austrian and Taiwanese educational institutions. The scholarship serves to establish contacts for future academic cooperation in research and teaching.

  • Grant: In addition to the monthly stipend of 1,250 euros for doctoral students and 1,400 euros for researchers, a travel allowance of up to 1,500 euros can be granted. For doctoral students and short stays, 100 euros per day will be covered for up to 12 working days, fter which the full stipend amount will be provided.
  • Duration: up to 1 month
