Report

The European Nutrition Conference (FENS) is one of the leading conferences in the field of nutrition, offering a broad insight and overview into latest topics and scientific challenges. The FENS 2023 took place in Belgrade, Serbia, and impressed with extraordinary plenary sessions, numerous of smaller sessions and hundreds of poster presentations. The main themes of the conference were "Human microbiome" and "Nutrition and the environment, sustainability and diversity". At this conference I had the opportunity to present our latest research results on the effect of sugar and artificial sweeteners on post-prandial endotoxemia in healthy adults in an international setting. In addition to attending very interesting scientific sessions, both large and smaller settings, it was also possible to meet and interact with the speakers personally, which made this experience even more special.

I would like to thank my supervisor Prof. Dr. Ina Bergheim for giving me the opportunity to participate and share our findings in this international setting and to broaden my perspective in our research field. Furthermore, I would also like to thank the Vienna Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (PhaNuSpo) for this travel grant.
