Thesis title: "Healthy and sustainable FBDGs and their impact on public health"

Thesis outline: The aim of my PhD thesis is to develop and analyse healthy and sustainable FBDGs and their impact on public health and the climate in order to support the transformation towards a healthy and environmentally friendly food system.

The main research questions are:

  • What do healthy and environmentally sustainable FBDGs look like?
  • Are more plant-based FBDGs nutritionally adequate?
  • What is the ratio of plant to animal proteins in the new FBDGs in comparison to the current consumption of the population?
  • What is the impact of the new FBDGs on the burden of disease (DALYs) compared to the current consumption of the population?
  • What is their impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and land use?
  • What are the risks and benefits for human health of a shift to a more plant-based diet ("protein transition")?
