Thesis title: "A structure-based analysis of transporters involved in thyroid hormone homeostasis"

Thesis outline: Julia focuses on the creation of in silico based new approach methods for prediction of chemical toxicity. The aim of this doctoral project is to model and investigate the molecular interactions between transporters involved in the hypothalamic–pituitary–thyroid axis and possible disruptors. The goal is to acquire a more profound understanding of molecular initiating events leading to an imbalance in thyroid hormone homeostasis and in further consequence to the adverse outcome developmental neurotoxicity.

Funding: EU project RiskHunt3R (grant agreement No 964537), funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research program.

Supervisor & Co-Mentor: Gerhard Ecker, Stefanie Kickinger (Boehringer Ingelheim)
