Research

Our research group in training and sports sciences is located at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiener Neustadt. We specialized in physiological adaptations in response to exercise, with a focus on pulmonary gas exchange dynamics, skeletal muscle oxidative metabolism, strength and resistance training and limits of exercise tolerance in sports performance. In our current research we address oxygen extraction at muscle level in rest and during exercise via near-infrared spectroscopy, the impact of maximal strength on drop-jump performance and the assessment of asymmetry in strength training. A core emphasis of our work is dedicated to paediatric exercise physiology, particularly on the longitudinal development in youth athletes.
