Research
Sports Medicine, Exercise Physiology and Prevention
One focus of the research in our team is to examine the effects of physical exercise and training on exercise physiological variables, and the cardiovascular system, especially on the heart in athletes, healthy untrained persons and patients with cardiovascular and other internal diseases. We, therefore, examine the acute and chronic effects of exercise by exercise testing using cycling and treadmill ergometry, gas exchange measurements (cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPX)), echocardiography and cardiovascular biomarkers. Furthermore, we would like to gain further insights on the effects of "Exercise is Medicine" by cross sectional as well as longitudinal training studies.
