Thesis title: "Effects of dietary nitrate and exercise training on blood pressure, physical performance, and oxidative stress in postmenopausal women"
Thesis outline: The aim of my dissertation is to investigate the effect of daily consumption of dietary nitrate from beet root juice, in combination with exercise training, on blood pressure, physical performance, and oxidative stress as part of the FWF-project „Nitrate, Exercise, and Vascular Function in Midlife Women“ (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04584372). The project targets untrained postmenopausal women with normal or treated mildly elevated blood pressure. This doctoral project will contribute to the assessment of the efficacy of dietary nitrate as a dietary 'adjunct' to regular exercise in improving blood pressure, cardiorespiratory fitness and the oxidative stress status as cardiovascular health-related outcomes in this population.
