Thesis title: Quantitative Modelling of Technical and Tactical Performance in Soccer Using Positional Data

Thesis outline: The analysis of positional data is one of the most exciting next frontiers in team sports performance analysis. In my PhD thesis, I am designing, implementing and validating sophisticated models and performance indicators based on positional data to create novel insights into association football. One example is the simulation and prediction of passing outcomes in the context of players' off-the-ball positioning. In addition, I am developing a game analysis software to put the derived performance indicators into practice. The program as well as the models are developed in cooperation with leading practitioners of the field to ensure practical relevance and impact.
