Thesis (working)title: Contributions of Stretch Reflexes to Plantar Flexor Force Potentiation during Maximal Stretch-Shortening Cycle Movements

Thesis outline: Stretch reflexes are thought to contribute to force potentiation during fast stretch-shortening cycles (SSC). However, this contribution has not been directly quantified in maximal SSCs. My PhD project aims to measure reflex-induced force potentiation in maximal SSCs by selectively inhibiting reflex activity using ischemia. This knowledge will help further our understanding of motor control, as well as improve models used in musculoskeletal simulations.
