Annual PhaNuSpo Retreat 2025
Programme
This two-day programme promises to be both inspiring and enriching, offering a unique combination of cutting-edge scientific presentations, interdisciplinary dialogue, networking opportunities, and the development of transferable skills.
Day 1 is dedicated to research. A keynote lecture by Ulrike Felt will open the programme, followed by 36 poster presentations from our PhD candidates across all three disciplines, highlighting the remarkable diversity of research within our doctoral school. A jury of PhD candidates, PIs and guests will evaluate the posters based on three criteria, with comprehensibility taking in the core, and the best four contributions will be awarded.
Day 2 shifts the focus towards career development and peer learning. In the morning, our PhD candidates will engage in discussions on career opportunities beyond academia with distinguished guests from diverse professional backgrounds. The afternoon will feature interactive peer-to-peer learning. At the same time, our PIs are invited to take part in a supervision workshop led by Markus Böckle, followed by an in-depth discussion on the University of Vienna’s postdoc initiative, presented by Monica Garcia Puerto.
We are delighted to welcome Marcel van der Heyden, a valued member of the PhaNuSpo Scientific Advisory Board, who will accompany us throughout the programme and provide valuable feedback.
Above all, our annual retreat is a chance to take a break from the routines of university life, to exchange ideas, strengthen connections between PhD candidates, supervisors, and invited experts - and to enjoy a well-deserved moment of inspiration and fun together.
